New Orleans
Fingers still crossed, it looks like NO has missed the worst of Hurricane Gustav.
But how sad that the top news story is about the positive effect this is having on the price of fuel.
Hello? Two million people evacuated?
Fucksake.
Scotch has a flavour

I second that! Fucksake! xx
To be fair, if you're gonna look at a Wall St. site for news, you shouldn't be surprised that they report things from a Wall St. POV...
I watched some of the TV coverage yesterday, and it was almost as if the reporters were disappointed that there wasn't more damage. It's a shame that they can't just be happy that things have turned a corner in NOLA...
Know what's really sad? As I read this what I thought was "OMG what HAS it done to the price of fuel???" But having lived in hurricane country for three years myself perhaps I might be excused? :O
But see....for so long the big oil companies have used so many excuses to raise the price of oil. It just gets ridiculous.
But I can say that my first thought was with the people down there. THEN I wondered how high the gas prices were gonna go.
The thought of flood terrifies me after we were stuck in one for 2 weeks...sometimes I block out the recent news by just not watching, but it doesn't mean I don't care about those folks caught in floods everywhere else...it's just that I'm petrified.
Hey Mr. Farty, I haven't forgotten.......
Giggle - Watch yer frickin language, ya mungral!
#Debi - I should have made it clear that I was looking at Google News. This was up there next to the Mansion Murders.
Watching it on the TV news, it was pretty clear that the reporter had paid some hardy locals to stand in the wind and wave their arms about for the cameras.
Marie - Being British, I'd naturally be standing there with a pipe stuck firmly in my mouth muttering something about it being "a bit blowy". Aye, right.
Jacki - The oil ain't gonna last forever...
GG - OMG, you're ALIVE!!!
Not that I was worried or that, like.
Hey Giggle, I haven't forgotten...
